ORGANIZATION IN THE DIGITAL AGE
By Lindsay Adler [Full Blog Entry]
One of the classes I teach is titled “Organization in the Digital Age”. As a professional photographer, or really for any photographer, it is absolutely essential to develop a consistent system of organization. When you develop a system, it should become part of your image workflow… and your system should start with handling your images even before import all the way to multiple forms of image archiving.
This presentation covers key words, image ratings, cataloguing, metadata, file naming, archiving, hard drives, RAID, Drobos, Copyright, Creative Commons, cloud storage, syncing/mirroring hard drives and much more.
I presented at Unique Photo in Fairfield, New Jersey. After this presentation I demonstrated many of these essential concepts in Adobe Lightroom (approx 1.5-2 hour of demo).
My disclaimer: There is not 100% ‘right answer’ for your workflow. These are just my suggestions. This presentation address what I have learned from experience and what other professionals have imparted to me along the way. Feel free to share your own workflow system of organization/archiving via email or in the comments! Thanks, enjoy and pass along to friends!
